Half year review

It's June and almost the end of 2017. 2016 rocked the market with mind blowing gadgets, games and all tech you could think of. One would expect that growth and innovation in the tech market would slow down after an epic mind blowing year, but 2017 has proved us wrong, once again.

Despite the negativity in the world of Politics( Trump or Zuma) , our ecology( varies environmental disaster, including the CapeTown disasters) , economy( South Africa downgrade and state capture) and many more, the tech world has blessed us with many exciting things, let's look at some of these:

Smartphones

This segment keeps on improving and amazing it's consumers, this is only possible through its competitive nature.

The Huawei P10 and the Mate range of smartphone solidified Huawei's position in the market as one of the most competitive and innovative companies, however other competitors countered this by introducing their own top of the range smartphones as well. Sony released a range of phones, however they did not wow most people as the design is if not almost the same for all its smartphones, the insides however , distinguished Sony from your Huawei's and Samsungs,with most of its phones packing an average of 20megapixles of camera and a fine display and layout.

The highlight however was the introduction of the Samsung S8, which took matters even further by maximizing the space on the smartphone, by extending its screen even further the nozzles of the phones, thus interlinking no the home button wit the screen. This smartphone has set a new standard in this market, having the best camera, best look and fast processor and super clear screen.

Things are going well for the Samsung S8, however this cannot continue forever because HTC has came back, and this time shaking up the market with its innovative HTC U11 smartphone.  This phone has awesome functionalities that we haven't seen in this market , to date. Will it disturb this market? Will have to wait for consumer reactions. Before the Samsung S8 and the HTC U11, the iPhone 7 was leading this market, after the introduction of the said smartphones, Apple did not bother responding, since the 7 is very much competitive , and well it's an iPhone so it still has that top of the range premium feel and functionality.

Despite these amazing market shakers, this is not the only thing that has kept the smile on our faces.

Apple kicked off the month of June with its WWDC2017 conference . Many might only be noticing the brilliance of Apple and its market strategy only now, but for the techies we have, through this conference , able to notice that Apple is slowly losing its competitive advantage, being the market leader f the all its product offerings. It's more of Apple playing a catch up game with its competitors instead of standard setters like it used to be. Despite this, the Worldwide Developer conference 2017 introduced use to the 7th gen MacBook Pros, Airs and iMacs. Apple was basically upgrading all its product lines. The Apple TvOS was upgraded with the introduction of Amazon on all apps and Apple TV, but this will only take place later on this year.

The Apple Watch team introduced the new Apple 4 Watch, which has simplified its layout , by going back to Apple's philosophy of Simplicity. The introduction of characters such as Jessie, Woody and Buzz onto the watch was a plus.the highlight however was the incorporation of the watch to the workout equipment, this allows users to connect their watches to their working out machines , allowing you to get more information on your workout and results.

In terms of maOS , the operating system was upgraded to macOS High Sierra, within this upgrade is the newly improved safari app, it is worth it though. The highlight in this OS is the introduction of the File system to all Devices.

The new iPads are merely a revamp of the existing iPad ranges, this time adding features such as True Tone display, wide colour gamut and making them 600 nits brighter.

And finally Apple introduced their own Homepad, which is the direct competitor of the Amazon Accor and google's home...

Regardless of Apple's breath taking event, the latest event is more focused on gamers

E3 2017

This year's event is underway as we speak, so no much can be said at this moment, if you haven't been paying attention to this, I suggest you go to YouTube and watch the latest introduction. What I can tell you at the moment is that as usual Sony is introducing some new games n their PlayStation 4 . What to look out for? We will be seeing great things from EA sports conference, Bathesda is going to take place in few days time, some of your existing games will be upgraded, games such as Star Wars and FIFA , go check it out.
