Data encryption for dummies(Me included)

recent events have placed the spotlight on our digital security and privacy, the term 'data encryption' is on everyone's  minds.
these events were popularized by the FBI v Apple case. The FBI in this case ordered Apple to help unlock an iPhone 5c smartphone that belongs to the  San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook, however Apple refused. Apple argues that their customer's privacy is infringed and that this act is unconstitutional.
Apple along with Blackberry products are known as the most secure products, due to the security within their operating systems. If Apple were to agree to this, they will eventually lose their credibility with respect to security and that is bad for business.
Many people see this as a threat because now the government might use this for their own personal agendas which most of the times are unconstitutional and violates our human rights.

The case was not just about this specific smartphone, it was to ensure that every time the FBI needed an Apple product to be unlocked, Apple will be legally obliged to do so. Tech giants such as Microsoft,Google, Facebook, Twitter and many others, agreed that this poses as a threat to their customer's privacy, hence they supported Apple in this regard.

WhatsApp took the biggest step amongst many social networks to introduce the encryption into every user's information being transmitted within the App. this is when most people started asking, what the hell is Data encryption,
Should we be worried.

Well no, you should be
because this here is a digital security revolution taking place...

Part two of detailed explanation is on its way, stay tuned...lol
