Apple September 15 Event: Everything new!

The Apple September event was as dry as the sahara desert, with no mention of the most anticipated iphone 12 line. To Apple's defence, Covid 19 shook all sepheres of life, including productions of the iPhones, even further it forced Apple to push up their timelines, and under such circumstances, Apple has been outstanding and pushing more than ever.

So what did this Septemebr event present us with?

1. Apple Watch series 6:

Even though the Apple watch is not significant as the iPhone, it is slowly integrating itself in our daily lives, especially to the health freaks and exercise gurus. the Apple watch series packs a lot of health tracking hardware and software, the iconic Apple Health app, keeps on improving, and this year it was no excerption. The Apple watch series will now be able to monitor your Blood oxygen ( SpO2) levels with its latest technology that shines infrared light onto the wrist which will bounce and be absorbed in the blood and send back light, the latest algorythm in the apple watch will then convert this to useful data which is displayed in the Health App. To normal people, what this means is that certain diseses such as Hypertension and cardiac arrest could be detected and prevented. The most important of these is the Covid 19 detection, the Apple watch series with its blood oxygen monitor capability acts as a Oximeter. The Oximeter measures the oxygen levels in the body, this will help to detect shortness of breath, and since we know that this is one of the Covid 19 symptoms. The apple watch further has a timer specifically designed to assist with washing your hands thoroughly, so as bacterias are killed.

another interesting thing about the Apple series 6 is the new colours and the bands on the watch, these are small but rather essential changes. The band is called the Solo loop, which can be easily slipped on your wrist. this is available in 7 different colours, sisnce this is an interchangeable band, you can buy more than one and wear the one that fits the ocassion. The braided solo loop is the fency most high end of the bands.

Besides the oximeter thingy, Apple further unvailed for the first time ever and Apple watch SE, which is basically Apple watch series 5 with the latest A14 chip. The watch doesnt have the tech to measure the Blood oxygen levels. The Watch was meant to be affordable, so as everyone can experience the Apple watch series .This is a perfect watch for new customers.

2. Ipad lineup

Apple went on to further announce more improvements in the iPad line. The first is the iPad 8th generation, which packs an A12 bionic chip, 4-core GPU abd 6-Core CPU.  what this means is that it will be almost 50% faster than the 7th gen iPad and the graphics will be 2 times better than the 7th gen. the iPad will work well with an Apple pencile as well as keyboard. What does this mean? well the iPad will be brighter and clearer as well as faster. The previous generation iPad was fast, and the 8th generation will be faster than that. this means that you can do more things on the iPad, for example photo editing will be come more faster and better.

How much you ask? well it will start at $329 (roughly R6 600), for educational purposes, it will cost $299(Roughly R 6 000).

Next is the iPad Air:

Apple has went back to the squarish design with round corners. the iPad air will come in 5 different colours, new colours will include, Green, rose gold and sky blue. The iPad air  will be shipped with a 10.9- inch (27.7cm) liquid retina display. the resolution has improved to 2360 by 1640 and will have 3.8 million pixels, which means more clearity in content displayed. the screen will have full lamination, antireflective coating, true tone technology as well as the P3 wide colour. this means that you will be happy with watching movies and editing pictures on you iPad. Touch ID will be integrated on the power button at the top right side of the iPad. The iPad air will be running an 14 bionic chip which can run 11 trillion operations per second. How ig is the chip? well it is 5 nanometer small. this is too small for an ordinary eye to see. this is one of the 1st chip to be that small. to make more sense, imagine the Laptop that you are currently using, now with the same amount of power and performance, shrink it to a small piece of rice, the A14 chip is still smaller than that and processes faster and better than your computer.

Finally the iPad Air will be using the USB Type C connector. oh and there is no adaptor on any of the apple devices sold from hear onwards.

3 Family setup

this is an app that allows multiple apple watches to pair up with one iPhone and the iPhone will then receive information about these devices , such as notification when you child was supposed to go to anappointment at a certain time. the different different watches can have their own phone number  and account. this pairing allows you to restrict the contacts that the watch can connect with and it allows provides you with automatic location notification. the app allows the watches to set up their own memojis and also to track movements in the workout app.

4. Apple Fitness+

this is a new service for the apple watch that allows you to stay fit. the trick with this service is that it integrates the apple watch with other apple devices such as the oPhone, iPad and the Apple TV. it allows you to see the various health tracking information such as your pulse, allows you to set a timer that shows on both connected devices. The app has a catalogue of workouts, which are integrated. the app will lauch with categories such as Yoga, cycling, dance  Tredmill, rowing and running. The app further allows you to select your workout music on the music app and save the playlist  and use it for future workouts. most of the workouts are have integrated workout music in them.

this service is going to cost you $9.99 per month, which is roughly R200 a month or you can pay $79.99 for the whole year, which is roughly R1 600. the app will be enjoyed by your whole family without paying more

5. Apple One

Apple is clever, in that with this service, it tries to integrate all the paying services from apple under one service. An individual  plan will cost you $14.95 per month which is roughly R 300 a month and it includes Apple music (Stream music), Apple Tv (Stream series and movies), 50gigs of iCloud storage and Apple Arcade. If it is more than one person in the family using Apple devices, you can opt for the Family package, which allows you to enjoy the same services for up to 5 family members and you get 200 gigs of iCloud storage, this will cost you $19.95 per month, which is roughly R400 per month. If you are loaded and dont mind paying, yoyu can opt for the Premier package, which has Apple music,Apple Tv, Apple Arcade, apple Fitness+, and Apple news+ and 2 terabytes  of iCloud storage, This will cost you $29.95 per month, which is roughly R600 per month.

Well this is too much to grasp, kind of. Most people were anticipating the announcement of the iPhone. I guess we will have to wait for October for that announcement.

What Apple has done here is to ensure that you remain and become even deeply rooted in the Apple ecosystem, and for thos that are new, it is making it even more attractive to be part of the ecosystem. This is obvioulsy not healthy from customer point of view, but business wise, this is by far an engenuis master plan that ensures sustainable revenue streams.
